Montepulciano d'Abruzzo "Madia" is a perfect example of this typical Abruzzo grape. Its deep and intense black color, with the characteristic violet reflections, is due to the Montepulciano grapes, rigorously selected on the hills of Villamagna, Abruzzo, at an altitude of about 200 meters. The particular south-west exposure of the vineyards, and the calcareous-clayey soils, combined with a fortunate position between the sea and the mountains, and yields per hectare of less than 140 quintals, guarantee the excellent structure and the good organoleptic complexity of this pleasant red. The grapes are harvested during the first ten days of October, followed by maceration in steel vats at controlled temperatures to extract the typical, intense color from the skins. The wine then continues to refine for one year in concrete tanks and for three months in the bottle. It has a ruby red color with violet reflections. The nose is clean, and has hints of berries and jam, with notes of violet and bitter licorice in the finish. Pleasant and warm, well balanced, firm and pleasantly persistent, it is the ideal wine for a wide range of dishes, easily matched and pleasant to drink every day.
